Therapeutic
Touch (TT) is a combination of several ancient healing practices,
based on the principle that human beings are energy fields (Krieger
58, 96). When healthy, the energy is freely flowing and balanced.
When our thoughts and emotions are out of alignment, an imbalance
of our vital life force or energy results. Energy imbalances may
lead to pain, emotional discomfort, disease, or any other health
problem. During a TT healing session, the practitioner uses his/her
hands as a focus for facilitating healing. As with any energy
healing work, it is the compassion and intent of the healer that
promotes the direction of energy to flow and enable facilitation
of the bodys natural restorative processes. TT can be used
alone or with other healing modalities.
The Session:
The practitioner uses the hands to facilitate a balanced flowing
of the human energy field, mobilizing ones own healing energies
to restore health, order, and harmony. Individuals are seated
(or laying down on massage table) and fully clothed to receive
the energy exchange, primarily done in ones auric field.
The practitioner may or may not touch you physically. A session
usually lasts from 15 to 30 minutes.
History:
TT was developed in the early 1970s through the pioneering work
of Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N., a professor at New York University,
and Dora Kunz, a natural healer.
Benefits:
